​About the Department

  1. ​The Department of Agriculture and Landscaping was established on Sep/29/2021. It includes three divisions: Agricultural Business,Maintenance and Operation of Water Stations and Wells,and Water Supplies. The Agricultural Business Division is concerned with agricultural works and preserving the current agricultural project. The Water Supplies Division is entrusted with following-up on the trees irrigation and water resources in accordance with the available capabilities and water harvesting at the university. The Division of Maintenance and Operation of Water Stations and Wells is responsible for maintenance of electrical and mechanical faults in the Purification Plant and the Drinking Water Station, management of artesian wells, and coordination according to the priorities of work based on the mechanisms used in the Department and the programs designed for this purpose as needed and available.

     

    Agricultural Business Division

    This division provides agricultural services and takes care of plants and trees through a number of agricultural operations such as (weeding, boring, plowing, fertilizing, and preventive spraying operations, and so on). A total of half a million trees were planted, including (26) thousand olive trees. Several indoor gardens were also established for the university edifices and taken care of in terms of landscaping, irrigating, cultivating, controlling agricultural pests and insects by spraying them with insecticides and fungicides, and controlling harmful weeds. Further, an agricultural nursery will be equipped, to plant annual plants as well as rear indoor and outdoor ornamental plants. The Department of Agriculture participates with the local community through cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture to develop and improve the agricultural project at the university.

     

    The Division of Maintenance and Operation of Water Stations and Wells

    This division handles the maintenance of electrical and mechanical faults in the Purification Plant, the Drinking Water Station, and artesian wells. It also conducts necessary studies, as well as redevelops and rehabilitates wells. The Purification Plant works through the sewage network to serve all university buildings by treating wastewater and reusing it in irrigating trees. The Drinking Water Station supplies the university with its daily water needs by storing the quantities of water received from the Water Authority in ground tanks. The university has a number of artesian wells that are used to irrigate trees.

     

    Water Supplies Division

    This division takes care of irrigating trees through the drip irrigation network, the regular maintenance of this network, establishing water harvesting ponds to collect rainwater and use it in irrigating trees. Moreover, the university is looking forward to linking the university edifices to the water harvesting project, and establishing soil ponds located on the canals to take advantage of the surface runoff.​
