Factors influencing business intelligence adoption: evidence from Jordan
Business intelligence (BI) adoption in developing countries including Jordan is still under development. This study examines the factors impacting the decision to adopt BI and its impact on decision-making performance. A model was proposed which comprises unaddressed factors and the reported key factors relating to BI adoption. A questionnaire was prepared and used to gather data from 22 Jordanian insurance companies that were involved in BI adoption following the model. A total of 153 responses were analysed using partial least squares path modelling. Factors associated with BI adoption were determined. The most positive and significant determinants of BI adoption were: Compatibility, relative advantage, information quality, and system quality. Complexity was significantly and negatively linked to BI adoption. Further, BI adoption was positively linked to decisionmaking performance. This study could assist managers of insurance companies in increasing the use and expansion of BI in Jordan.
