Enhancing Students campus walkability as a sustainability Indicator
Walking has recently become a vital and sustainable way of travelling for university students in their daily lives. Students walkability is affected by the campus's built environment?s characteristics and context. The purpose of this study is to determine the time benchmarks that are needed to classify the students? campus walkability. Also, study the factors that affect students? campus walkability, which include four groups of factors: the campus infrastructure, the campus layout, context and services, and students? behaviour. A questionnaire was distributed to students at the Faculty of Engineering at AABU University in Mafraq, Jordan. SPSS software is used to analyse data and obtain results. As a result, students? walkability is categorised into convenience, tolerance, and weary walkability. Moreover, the factors are grouped into factors that increase students? campus walkability, factors that decrease students? walkability, and factors that have no effect on walkability. The research's significance derives from the investigation of walkability as one of the main mobility modes on the university campus. It is considered an essential component of sustainability, and it is used as a design consideration for determining accessibility to the various services that students need within the university.
