President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Osama Nusier, sponsored the launch of the Omani Cultural Days activities, organized by the university as part of the cultural season of the Omani Research and Studies Center for the current year 2025, through the Omani Research and Studies Center at the university, in cooperation with the Omani Embassy and the Fatwa Office at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman, in the presence of the Omani Ambassador, Sheikh Fahd bin Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed Al-Ajili, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Omani Cultural Attaché Salem Al-Wohaibi, and the Director of the Department of Committees and Foreign Relations at the Ifta Office in the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili. This was done within the framework of strengthening cultural exchange between the two brotherly countries, in the Prince Hassan Amphitheater at the university.
During his sponsorship of the opening ceremony, Dr. Nusier indicated that these forums represent a sincere response to the directives of the leaders of the country, His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq the Great - may God protect them - in documenting the bonds of brotherhood and strengthening the close ties between the two brotherly countries.
He pointed out the depth of scientific and cultural cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Omani Studies Center at the university, as the center is considered an authentic beacon that sheds light on the landmarks of Omani civilization and the richness of its cultural heritage, and its remarkable contributions in the fields of thought, science, and history, stressing that the center embodies, through its mission, the values of civilizational interaction, constructive dialogue, and cultural integration between peoples, in line with the university's goals and vision.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, Director of the Department of Committees and Foreign Relations at the Ifta Office in the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman, said:
“We in the Ifta Office at the Omani Ministry of Endowments value the efforts made by the Omani Research and Studies Center at Al al-Bayt University in highlighting the noble Islamic values through lectures, diverse programs, scientific research, and purposeful events, including the establishment of the Omani Cultural Days, which seek to highlight the pioneering role played by the Omani civilization. This season sheds light on the rulings of architecture in Omani books of jurisprudence, which is a topic of great importance in establishing the meanings of good neighborliness that our true religion urged, and it has an active role in preserving the level of community well-being through its social, economic, and environmental dimensions.”
The Director of the Omani Research and Studies Center at the university, Professor Muhammad Bani Khaled, stated that the establishment of the center coincided with the establishment of the university, which is clear evidence of the deep-rooted relations between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman.
He stressed that the center came to show the civilizational, heritage, cultural, and political face of the Sultanate of Oman throughout history, pointing out that the Cultural Days will be rich in scientific interventions on the engineering of architecture in the Sultanate of Oman and the related jurisprudential rulings, Omani relations with countries, the making of fatwas in the Ifta Office, and the dissemination of a culture of tolerance, in addition to holding exhibitions of books and heritage collections.
The opening ceremony, which was attended by the Vice-Presidents of the University, Deans of Faculties, members of the teaching staff, and a number of students, included a visual presentation on the center's achievements, followed by an exchange of commemorative shields between the President of the University and the Omani Ambassador, and the honoring of a number of center directors and participants in the Cultural Days.
The ceremony also witnessed the opening of the exhibition “My Identity - Oman Identity and Civilization,” which included panels talking about the Hadith and the Omani Companions, a corner for rights, a corner for values, and a corner for the ethics of Omani merchants in spreading Islam.
On the first day of the activities, Dr. Muhammad Bani Khaled chaired a scientific session in the Al-Hassan Amphitheater in the College of Engineering that dealt with scientific interventions on the engineering of architecture in the Sultanate of Oman, where Dr. Saqr Al-Sqour spoke about the authenticity of the past and the beauty of the present, and reviewed the most prominent features of Omani architecture throughout the ages of simplicity, moderation, avoidance of extravagance, and preservation of sanctity and privacy, in addition to the use of available local building materials, and their optimal exploitation using the latest technologies. Al-Sqour also discussed the connection of Omani architecture to Islamic architectural thought and how each was influenced by the other.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili presented a scientific intervention on the jurisprudential rulings of Omani architecture.
The sessions of the second and third days continue in the various facilities of the university.
