On behalf of the President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Osama Nusair, the Vice President of the University for International and Community Relations, Professor Hani Akhu Arshideh, and in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Saeed Abu Khader, sponsored a lecture organized by the Department of History in the Faculty entitled:
"The Hashemites and the Independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: A Bright History and a Promising Future," delivered by the former Minister, Dr. Muhannad Mubaidin, at the Prince Hassan bin Talal Amphitheater on the university campus.
During the lecture, Dr. Mubaidin reviewed the pivotal role of the Hashemites in leading the Jordanian renaissance project through the path of independence, from the establishment of the Emirate of Transjordan, through the moment of independence in 1946, then the stage of construction in the era of King Hussein bin Talal, until the era of consolidation under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God protect him.
He pointed out that this establishment came with a deep feeling and a sincere desire from the Jordanians. He also shed light on the national achievements made under the leadership of the Hashemites over the decades in various fields: political, developmental, educational, and social.
He stressed that Jordanians are connected to their land and identity, and that independence is not just a passing event, but rather the result of the heroism of the sons of Jordan and the Arab elite who supported the Arab renaissance project, believing in its firm and steadfast message.
Dr. Mubaidin also touched on the efforts to establish the Jordanian state, form the army and legislative councils, and all the great national efforts that accompanied that stage. He explained that, despite the steady population increase, the Jordanian state has remained strong and independent, and its status is strengthening day after day at the regional and international levels. He pointed out that the path to independence is the path to knowledge, thanks to the universities and schools provided by the state that produced thought and the educated.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Saeed Abu Khader, praised the lecture, explaining that it carried two connotations: the first historical, recalling the Hashemite role since the era of the founding King Abdullah I, until His Majesty King Abdullah II the enhancer; and the second symbolic, manifested in the celebration of Independence Day as a national occasion that confirms the symbolism of the Jordanian state and its active regional and international role.
The Chairman of the Department of History, Dr. Khader Al-Sarhan, also affirmed that the university has been organizing meetings and events that highlight the role of Jordan and its Hashemite leadership, and contribute to enhancing national and media awareness, in celebration of this great occasion. He pointed out that Al al-Bayt University is keen to be among the first educational institutions to commemorate Independence Day, to instill in the hearts of its students love for the homeland and loyalty to its wise leadership, which made Jordan's independence, and is still providing daily lessons in devotion to the homeland and the nation, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.
The lecture witnessed a wide attendance of students and faculty members, and included interventions and discussions that enriched the dialogue and affirmed pride in independence and loyalty to the Hashemite leadership.
