Dr. Nusair is hosting the eighth annual conference titled "Agriculture and Water in Jordan: Challenges and Technological Solutions."

The President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Osama Nusair, sponsored the eighth annual "Jana" conference on agriculture and water in Jordan, focusing on "Challenges and Technological Solutions." The event took place at the Hassan bin Talal auditorium with the attendance of Dr. Mustafa Al-Saleh, the head of the Jana Foundation. 

Dr. Nusair delivered a speech praising the efforts of the Jana team as a vital platform for Jordanian graduates from North American and Canadian universities, who are dedicated to sharing their experiences and knowledge with the homeland. He expressed hope that cultural and technical exchange would enhance national capacities to face current challenges and achieve sustainable development for a better future for water in Jordan and the world, along with the necessary changes in the future and technology of water, which are crucial for the success of agriculture to maintain greenery and ensure continued life.

Dr. Mustafa Al-Saleh expressed gratitude to the university for its warm hospitality and organization, stating that all efforts from Jana are directed towards national duty. He noted that Jana faced significant difficulties but managed to overcome them through ideas launched ten years ago, allowing it to create ten-year plans to provide suitable services for its members, reaffirming that it has achieved its major goals within a structured framework.

Dr. Faiq Al-Rabee, the conference coordinator and a board member of Jana, thanked Al al-Bayt University for its excellent organization, represented by its president and all its staff, for their cooperation and overcoming obstacles, emphasizing future collaboration in the interest of the nation.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Washah discussed the realities and challenges of the water sector in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the benefits of safely extracting groundwater, and the investment in surface and groundwater energy projects along with effective solutions.

Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rabee from the Ministry of Agriculture spoke about agriculture and food security in Jordan, reviewing the state of the agricultural sector over the past two years, the effects of crises like COVID-19 and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and future plans regarding food security to enhance Jordan's resilience against food security challenges.

Dr. Ali Hayajneh from Al-Hussein University discussed modern irrigation techniques using drones and their integration with Internet of Things technology and artificial intelligence, highlighting their role in preserving water resources and improving agricultural efficiency through modern technology.

Dr. Marwan Al-Raqqad, the executive director of the Islamic Network for Water Resources Development and Management, pointed out the importance of water harvesting in desert areas and its impact on vegetation cover in Jordan.

Engineer Hassan Al-Tabini explained agricultural practices and modern technologies in desert regions, the types of desert farming, and the challenges faced, while noting the government's role and contributions in applying these methods.

At the end of the conference, attended by Vice Presidents Dr. Omar Al-Otain and Dr. Hani Akho Arshaida, along with various experts, interested parties, and deans of colleges at the university, Dr. Nusair exchanged memorial shields with Dr. Al-Saleh.
