The College of Engineering and the Engineers Syndicate are holding a workshop on architecture and civil engineering at the university
Within the extracurricular activities held by the College of Engineering at the university, the College of Engineering hosted the Architectural Division of the Jordanian Engineers Association, headed by Engineer Wissam Annab, and Eng. Shaker Khalif, Eng.
The Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Muayyad Shawaqfeh, welcomed this cooperation with the Jordanian Engineers Association, pointing out that this workshop comes to meet the aspirations of our students, particularly the graduates, as it provides them with a perception of the labor market and places them in the competition ladder for the opportunities available to graduate students, as well as the diversity between civil and architectural engineering. .
The engineer, Wissam Annab, in turn, thanked the university for the attention to students and graduates, indicating that they volunteer to provide work that benefits universities, support the practice of the profession of architecture, support students and communicate with them in order to clarify and put lights on the future of the profession and its practice. It contains the foundations and local and international standards about project design and organizational provisions. Annab also presented to the students in attendance samples of building plans, which showed all the details necessary for the construction to be as required by the Jordanian building code.
Engineer Essam Ramadan spoke about building provisions and codes, referring to the documents that are dealt with during the design and what information is required for the architect in the way he deals with the project, indicating that space is an important and approved matter, especially with regard to registration documents, land and regulatory plans, the location of the land and its relationship with its surroundings, as between Ramadan It is necessary to specify locations, setbacks, type and category of housing, and how to bypass architectural violations. Several examples of models for architecture and mathematical equations that show the correctness of construction are presented.
Engineer Aseed Al-Aitan, a member of the union, spoke about job opportunities for recent graduates, pointing out how to distinguish opportunities by moving away from traditional fields and the need to distinguish yourself as an architecture graduate in light of the high competitiveness in the labor market and the low demand for the profession, indicating that opportunities may be delayed sometimes, but they do not disappear, stressing the abundance In the engineers sector and how to transform and invest the architectural energies by thinking outside the box and undergoing advanced courses in the same field that provide the graduate with better opportunities.
Engineer Shaker Khalif, a member of the union, explained the mechanism and training programs for recent graduates within the Syndicate of Engineers and for all disciplines, referring to the union’s role in qualifying engineers and helping them to create job opportunities. Consulting offices Shaker indicated that there are courses through the Engineers Training Center and the Academy of Engineers that were launched recently, in addition to the electronic platform Jia Learning, which includes many courses and training programs online.
At the end of the workshop, which was coordinated by Dr. Hatem Al-Masaeed and attended by a number of faculty members and a large gathering of university students, the Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Rami Al-Shawabkeh, presented the university’s shield on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering to Eng. Annab, where an extensive dialogue and discussion took place between the lecturers and attendees, and they answered. On students' questions and inquiries.​
