Al al-Bayt University signs an agreement with the Arab Climate Center

President of Al al-Bayt University, Prof. Hani Al-Dmour, received in his office today the Director of the Arab Climate Center, Engineer Ahmed Al-Arbeed, in attendance of the Vice President for Quality and Development Affairs, Prof. Bassam Al-Mahasneh, and the Director of the Disaster and Crises Management, Modeling and Simulation Center, Prof. Moayyad Al-Shawaqfeh.

Dr. Al-Dmour welcomed the delegation, expressing his pride in the engineer Ahmed Al-Arbeed (one of the university's graduates), who reflected his passion and hobby in studying climatology and weather forecasts by establishing the Arab Climate Center, which competes by its accurate predictions with specialized Arab and international climate centers.

Dr. Al-Shawaqfeh expressed his happiness with this achievement of one of the graduates of the Faculty of Engineering, which culminated in signing an agreement with the Center. The agreement addresses building, programming and applying a system of early warning as well as providing the necessary and constantly updated data to be processed through the application. In addition, it deals with preparing and adopting a form to be agreed upon between the two parties, so that the Arab Climate Center periodically fills out this form, provided that it contains data and warnings regarding weather conditions and expected low pressure, and sends it to the the Disaster and Crises Management, Modeling and Simulation Center at Al al-Bayt University to address the competent authorities in the country to take necessary measures and precautions.

Under this agreement, the Arab Climate Center will also provide short, medium and long-range weather forecasts to the Disaster and Crises Management Center, on a regular basis for the purpose of feeding the center with the data necessary to manage crises and disasters resulting from weather conditions. It will further conduct joint survey and research studies to determine maps of hot and dangerous points that are likely to be exposed to dangerous floods and torrents.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Eng. Dhafer Rialat, a specialist in climatology, and the programmer of the Arab Climate Center, Mr. Ahmed Al-Badawi, a graduate of Al al-Bayt University, as well. On the side of the university, the signing was attended by the assistant directors of the Disaster and Crises Management Center, Dr. Diaa Al-Sreihin and Dr. Lamia Al-Amoush.
