The Department of English Language hosts Dr. Khaled Al-Masa’eed of Carnegie Mellon University in the United States

The Department of English Language and Literature hosted Dr. Khaled Al-Masaeed, Associate Professor of Arabic Studies and Second Language Acquisition and Learning at the Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Al-Masa'eed delivered a lecture to graduate students specialized in English Language-Linguistics, in which he handled the forms and types of research and modern linguistic studies on teaching Arabic language and its dialects. He talked about the most prominent linguistic phenomena that characterize the Arabic language and its different dialects, which were addressed by recent research from the perspective of sociolinguistics as well as teaching Arabic language and its dialects to non-native speakers.

Al-Masa'eed explained the role of universities and research institutions in promoting scientific research to serve the Arabic language. He pointed out the importance of reviewing literature by graduate students at modern languages departments at Jordanian universities in order to investigate the most prominent transformations that occurred in the Arabic language and its dialects over time.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Al-Masa'eed answered the graduate students' questions related to the forms and types of research and linguistic studies and the most prominent modern scientific research methods used in American universities.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Khaled Al-Masa'eed is one of the graduates of the Department of English Language and Literature at Al al-Bayt University in 2005. He obtained his master's and doctorate degrees from American universities. He worked in the Department of English Language and Literature at Al al-Bayt University between 2014 and 2015 before joining the work as a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. He is also assigned to work there as coordinator of the Arabic Studies Program.​
