Installing environmental monitoring systems and radiological scanning devices at Al al-Bayt University and Mafraq area

​Based on the directives of Prof. Hani Al-Dmour, President of Al al-Bayt University, and with the follow-up of his Vice President for Planning and Development, Prof. Bassam Al-Mahasneh, to study the impact of each of the repercussions of the Gulf War, the Syrian refugee and industrial facilities that pollute the environment in Mafraq area and Al al-Bayt University in particular, the Environment, Water and Energy Research Center, in cooperation with the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission agreed to install a fixed environmental monitoring system at the university to conduct a radiological survey of the study area (Mafraq and the University), install radon gas meters (30 devices) in the Mafraq and University areas, and measure radioactive plankton in the air particulate material. Several meetings were held between the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, represented by Dr. Ahmed Al-Omari, Director of the Laboratories Directorate, Engineer Khaled Al-Qadi, a radiological and nuclear inspector, and a number of Commission's technicians and the university represented by Al-Mahasneh, Prof. Moayyad Al-Shawaqfah, President Assistant for Disasters Management, Dr. Mohannad Massad, Director of the Environment, Water and Energy Research Center, Engineer Raya Al-Amoush, Assistant Director of the Environmental Research Center, and Mr. Mo'awiya Bani Issa, supervisor of X-ray equipment at the Environmental Research Center.​​
