Al-Dmour meets the Jordan River Foundation delegation to sign a memorandum of understanding and launch a technology incubator, the first of its kind in the Middle East

President of the University, Prof. Hani Al-Dmour, received the Jordan River Foundation delegation, which included the Director-General, Mrs. Ina'am Al-Braishi, Dr. Mohammad Al-Hourani, Program Manager, Maher Al-Qubaj, Director of Tamkeen Program, Tala Malakha, Project Manager, and Mr. Adel Al-Daboubi, Director of Rice Incubator.

Al-Dmour highlighted the importance of the partnership that the university holds through networking with Jordanian national institutions such as the Jordan River Foundation. He pointed out the university's ambitious plans in providing real and training job opportunities for graduate students and employment through the fields of tourism and hospitality in the future. He indicated the importance of providing real job opportunities to reduce unemployment and the scarcity of job opportunities that societies suffer from.

On the sidelines of the meeting, a joint cooperation agreement was signed between the university represented by the Excellence Center for Innovation and the Jordan River Foundation to implement the Incubator at the university. The Rice Incubator “Youth able to adapt to changes and empowered socially and economically" is a pioneering alliance between a number of partners, including Mercy Corps, Jordan River, Generations for Peace and Injaz, led by the Danish Refugee Council and funded by Novo Nordisk, targeting 25,000 young people from less fortunate Jordanians and Syrian refugees who have been affected by the Syrian crisis.

After signing the agreement, Al-Braishi and the university president opened a technology incubator to provide young people with a new technological experience to stimulate their creativity and increase their skills that contribute to their effective participation in society. The activities are designed in such a way that young people can use tools and materials to explore modern technology with new experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM approach), and which focus on the “learning by doing" method.

The exhibition is being carried out for the first time in the Middle East by the Jordan River Foundation, which has chosen Al al-Bayt University to set up a technology exhibition at the University's Center of Excellence for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It aims to attract creative, pioneering and innovative students, to motivate young people, develop their skills, and direct their energy towards innovation, excellence and entrepreneurship.

The incubator includes three work stations:

Robot soccer and basketball team

Young people participating in exhibition use the SCOREBOT kit and download the free JIMU app to control a real interactive soccer robot shooting to enhance their teamwork and planning skills. The set includes smooth-motion robotics that allow youngsters to program the degree of movement for a more personalized and realistic playing experience. These robots are officially used by Manchester City Football Club to be the robotic football and basketball companion.

Hologram fans

Young people design shapes from the hologram exhibit to enhance their decision-making skills as they work in groups to choose the image that appears to float in the air. These images will have RGB LEDs attached to the fan blades and the controller will light up the pixels as the fan spins to produce the complete 3D image.

Interactive BEAM floor

Through these exhibits, young people are promoting many skills, especially active listening, as they will be asked to listen to the steps they need to take. BEAM Interactive Floor transforms any physical space into an immersive and active gaming experience with a high-brightness projector captivating special effects on the floor.
