A 61-year-old Malaysian student, Azhari was honored by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammad Al-Harahsheh, and Director of the Language Center, Dr. Yousef Al-Dalabeeh. Azhari is a Malaysian businessman and activist interested in Arabic language and Islamic culture. He had recently enrolled in a two-month course to learn Arabic in the Language Center.

This initiative was coordinated by Dr. Marwa Al-Bataineh and Dr. Omar Al-Khaza'leh of the Language Center in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture and Landscaping to plant a cypress tree called the Azhari tree, and olive trees in the Language Center's backyard.

Faculty members of the Language Center and Faculty of Sharia, and students of the Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers Division participated in this initiative for the purpose of cultural exchange as well as strengthening relations between the students and the academic and local community.​
