Activity for Malaysian students (Malaysian cultural presentation) at Al al-Bayt University

The Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Professor Muhammad Al-Khatib, sponsored an activity for Malaysian students entitled (Presenting Malaysian Culture), which was held in the Al-Bakhit Amphitheater at Al al-Bayt University, in the presence of the Director of the Language Center, Dr. Lamia Al-Amoush, faculty and administrative staff in the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Language Center, in addition to a number of students and interested people.

The Director of the Language Center, Dr. Lamia Al-Amoush, said in her speech that these students came from their country to learn the Arabic language at Al al-Bayt University, due to the Language Center’s specialized scientific competencies and qualified and efficient teachers to teach Arabic to non-native speakers, in addition to advanced language laboratories, curricula and learning resources that serve the educational process.

Al-Amoush pointed out the objectives of the Language Center, which was established to teach Arabic to non-native speakers, spread the Arabic language and culture of the Arab Islamic nation in various parts of the world, and serve Muslims from non-Arabs to enable them to learn the provisions of their religion, recite the Holy Qur’an and understand its meanings, in addition to serving non-Muslims who wish to study Arabic language sciences.

Al-Amoush affirmed Al al-Bayt University’s keenness to achieve these goals by concluding international agreements with foreign academic institutions and universities.

For her part, Dr. Amna Al-Hayek, coordinator of the Arabic language division for non-native speakers, said that their role is to build the mind, not fill the mind, and to achieve a balance between the tongue and the conscience, grammar and context, and significance and use, stressing that the measure of success lies in the depth, truthfulness, and continuity of the impact, not just the number of lessons. She added that the Malaysian students’ choice of Al al-Bayt University is an honor and a bridge of convergence between two cultures brought together by Islam and united by the love of the Arabic language, noting that they are partners in the educational experience, not passing guests.

The event, presented by students Obaid Allah bin Muhammad and Seri Hidayah, included speeches, poems, songs, Malaysian folk dances, and combat performances from the ancient Malaysian heritage, in addition to group recitation segments by Malaysian female students, and a presentation by the “I am Arab” program.

At the conclusion of the event, certificates and gifts were distributed to the participants, while the Malaysian students expressed their deep gratitude to Al al-Bayt University and the Language Center for providing them with a safe educational and cultural environment, which was like a second home that embraced their ambitions and aspirations.
