Nusair sponsors the international symposium on managing diversity and difference in Omani society.

Representing the President of the University, Professor Dr. Osama Nusai​r, the Vice President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Professor Dr. Omar Al-Ateen, sponsored the activities of the International Symposium specializing in Omani Affairs, which was organized by the Omani Research and Studies Center at the University. This was in the presence of the Omani Minister Plenipotentiary, Yaqoub bin Badr Al-Ruqaishi, and the Director of the Center, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Qarala, at the symposium in which a selection of researchers from Georgetown University in the United States and Al al-Bayt University participated.


The symposium pointed to the management of diversity and difference in Omani society from multiple academic and cultural angles, in the Al-Bakhit Auditorium at the University.


Dr. Paul Lincoln from Georgetown University addressed the existential problem and the unity of destiny and called for contemplation of the common human destiny, pointing out that human solidarity is a necessity in light of global challenges and human brotherhood and the unity of humanity, where he stressed that everyone is brothers, and this is what the Document on Human Fraternity calls for, which seeks to consolidate faith in the Creator and unite people in the values of goodness and solidarity with the logic of brotherhood that establishes peace and respect.


He also pointed to the recognition of diversity and distinct personality and the importance of recognizing human diversity and differences in visions, which enhances human dignity.


Referring to the Omani model, he praised the Omani society, which embodies the values of wisdom, tolerance, and acceptance of others, which reflects its deep adherence to human brotherhood.


Paul also touched on cosmic laws and doing good.


The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Professor Dr. Urwa Al-Duwairi, referred to tolerance and its meanings among the people of Oman and what the easy tolerance aims at. He also summarized tolerance in religion and work and the characteristic of Omani societies, as the Companions and followers praised them for the happiness of the people of Oman.


Al-Duwairi pointed to the characteristics of Omani society, indicating that the Omani models are human models in human behavior as a mature and rational society that manages affairs with justice and fairness, which is represented by the Omani society in its generous and fair initiatives in tolerance, moderation, and positive neutrality in its approach. And a system of governance based on facilitation, social justice, human dignity, solidarity, and human brotherhood, representing the real model.


The Omani identity, and the policy of neutrality and positive wisdom, reviewing the efforts of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman.


Sectarian openness also showed the harmony between the religious institution and the legal systems and concluded with education, media, systems, identity, reference, neutrality, and the positive performance of Omani institutions that the Omani experience is a rich experience.


The Minister Plenipotentiary, Yaqoub Al-Ruqaishi from the Sultanate of Oman, made an intervention during the symposium in which he explained that the Omani model in tolerance is similar to the Jordanian model in its tolerance and management of diversity and difference and its embrace of all sects, races, and customs without discrimination or distinction.


The representative of the President of the University, Al-Ateen, affirmed the strong relations between Jordan and Oman and that the Omani Center at the University is a link between the University and the Sultanate of Oman through the presentation of joint programs and seminars that reflect the depth of the relationship between the two sides.


The symposium, which was attended by a large number of university students and faculty members and was presented and managed by Dr. Montaha Al-Harahsha from the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences, showed how to employ tolerance in Omani society and diversity and difference from the point of view of the lecturing researchers.
