Awareness workshop titled Rational Use and Management of Surface Water

The Department of Applied Geography at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities held an awareness workshop titled "Rationalizing and Managing the Use of Surface Water" on Sunday, December 22, 2024, under the supervision and coordination of Dr. Mayson Al-Zaghoul, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and Dr. Aeed Taran, Head of the Applied Geography Department. This event was part of the college's student initiatives program for the academic year 2024-2025. The students presented projects on the rationalization and management of water resources in the presence of the College's Vice Dean, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Daiki, the Head of the Applied Geography Department, Dr. Aeed Taran, the Head of the Humanities Department, Dr. Faisal Al-Ma'youf, along with several faculty members and students from various disciplines.

The workshop included a presentation outlining its concept and promotional materials highlighting the importance of rationalizing water resource consumption, the water situation in Jordan, and the regulations governing the preservation and management of water resources. This was followed by an extensive presentation of the students' projects and initiatives, which included ideas on water harvesting and how to utilize rainwater as an important source of water. The students also presented specific ideas regarding the possibility of purifying wastewater and reusing it, as well as filtering gray water and the importance of this filtering in controlling household consumption during dry summer months. Students elaborated on a proposed device as a water level indicator.

The written distributions with awareness slogans concluded the workshop, and students answered questions from the attendees. The Vice Dean, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Daiki, the Head of the Applied Geography Department, Dr. Aeed Taran, and Dr. Faisal Al-Ma'youf praised the students' projects and their practical ideas. They expressed their sincere wishes for the success of the department's students and emphasized the need to elevate these initiatives for practical implementation. At the end of the workshop, the supervisor and coordinator, Dr. Mayson Al-Zaghoul, met with the students and congratulated their efforts, stressing the importance of benefiting from the initiatives they presented in the future.​
