Al-Ain Al-Majali lectures at Al-Bayt about the security challenges facing Jordan.
Former Minister Al-Majali lectures at Al al-Bayt University about the security challenges facing Jordan amid the Syrian security situation.
Under the patronage of the President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Dr. Osama Nusair, the College of Wisdom for Political Science and International Studies hosted Al-Majali to discuss "The security challenges facing Jordan in light of the security situation in Syria."
Al-Majali emphasized that the unity of the Jordanian national fabric and its rallying around its Hashemite leadership have spared Jordan the ravages of wars and crises faced by neighboring countries. He stated that Jordan has been and remains the rock against which all attempts to embroil it in political and military crises that could lead to a state of security breakdown, God forbid, have shattered.
He clarified that following the collapse of the Syrian regime, the security challenges facing Jordan have grown, particularly in terms of border control against any security threats or the smuggling of weapons and drugs. Additionally, the Syrian refugee crisis has placed significant economic and security burdens on Jordan. He noted that the return of Syrian refugees is unlikely to happen in large numbers given the current conditions in Syria, and there is concern about a second wave of refugees if the security instability continues there.
Al-Majali expressed confidence in the awareness of Jordanian youth regarding the geopolitical vision of the Hashemite leadership and the cohesion of the Jordanian internal front, urging them not to fall for misleading news disseminated on social media.
He affirmed that the Palestinian issue has taken center stage globally after the events in Gaza, finding supporters and advocates in all countries. It is the foremost issue for Jordan, consistently raised by the Hashemite leadership in various international forums. He also emphasized that it is in the interest of Jordan and its neighboring countries for stability to prevail in Syria following recent events, allowing Syria to begin a phase of construction and economic prosperity.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Wisdom, Professor Dr. Ahed Abu Dweib, confirmed the importance of this meeting, which comes at a critical and sensitive time following the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, highlighting the need for vigilance and care in combating extremism and terrorism.
At the end of the meeting, the university president, Nusair, presented a commemorative shield to Al-Majali in the presence of the Vice President for Community Affairs and International Relations, Professor Dr. Hani Akho Rashida, the Dean of the College of Wisdom, Professor Dr. Ahed Abu Dweib, several deans, faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
