The launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women campaign at Al al-Bayt University
The Vice President for Community Affairs and International Relations, Dr. Hani Akhu Rashida, sponsored the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women campaign, organized by the International Support Center for Empowerment and Development under the slogan "Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls," which will continue until December 10, 2024, in collaboration with the Center for Sustainable Development and Women Empowerment at Al-Bayt University.
Dr. Akhu Rashida emphasized the need for all national efforts from government and community institutions to combat violence against women and to empower them socially, economically, and politically.
The event included a presentation about the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women campaign and a theatrical performance in collaboration with the Culture Directorate of Mafraq. The speakers, including Dr. Reem Al-Amoush from the local community, Amani Al-Marabi from the International Support Center, Islam Huwamda, the director of the "All of Us Jordan" Youth Authority in Mafraq, governorate council member Hamsa Al-Amoush, and family counselor Hanan Al-Majali, focused on the importance of raising awareness about the types of violence against women and advocating for policy and law changes to protect women from violence, as well as collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations to achieve real progress in combating violence against women.
Dr. Akhu Rashida, accompanied by Abdullah Al-Hasban, the director of the International Support Center, toured the charity bazaar held on the sidelines of the event, featuring efforts by local women who have empowered themselves economically through small projects.
The ceremony, presented by Ruba Shdaifat from the International Support Center, was attended by a group of members from the decentralization council and association heads in Mafraq Governorate.
