Introductory session on the Nutrition Innovation Lab project

Orientation session for the Nutrition Innovation Lab project at Princess Salma Bint Abdullah College of Nursing at Al-Bayt University


An orientation session was held at Al-Bayt University at Princess Salma Bint Abdullah College of Nursing regarding the activities of the Nutrition Innovation Lab project in Jordan, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), implemented in partnership with Tufts University and Mindset, titled "Orientation Session on the Nutrition Innovation Lab in Jordan - Supporting Nutrition for Mothers, Infants, and Young Children in Jordan: The Nutrition Innovation Lab in Jordan." 


The session, presented by project coordinator Ms. Haneen Abu Leila, aimed to showcase the activities and opportunities available within the project to build academic capacities and support scientific research on the health and nutrition of mothers and children under the age of two in Jordan. This includes thorough research and capacity-building activities in the field of maternal and young child nutrition (MIYCN). During the meeting, Ms. Abu Leila provided a presentation about the project's activities designed to support Jordanian researchers and future scientists through intensive workshops on scientific research methodology, providing grants to researchers, and through specialized scientific conferences on nutrition and focused scientific seminars on issues concerning maternal and child nutrition and health.


Dr. Khatam Al-Awamreh from the Maternal and Child Health Nursing Department provided an overview of the Nutrition Innovation Lab at the college, which aims to support nutrition for mothers, infants, and young children in Jordan.


At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Dean of the college, Professor Dr. Maan Al-Jizaawi, on behalf of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Professor Dr. Mohammed Barahma, presented certificates to the participants, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Mohammed Nazzal, the Head of the Clinical Nutrition Department, Dr. Zaher Bashabsheh, and Dr. Insaf Shaaban from the Maternal and Child Health Department.
