The Al al-Bayt hosts journalist Hosam Gharaybeh to talk about "Media Awareness"
The university president, Professor Osama Nusair, received the media engineer Hossam Al-Ghraibeh, the director of Hosna Radio, in the presence of the university vice presidents and former senator Sheikh Talal Al-Madi. The university hosted Al-Ghraibeh through the Faculty of Sharia to discuss media awareness. During the meeting, Nusair provided an overview of the university, its programs, objectives, mission, vision, achievements, and new specializations, and presented a commemorative shield to the guest Al-Ghraibeh.
Al-Ghraibeh urged university students to seek genuine information from reliable sources and to promote the values of reason and constructive dialogue within the university, as it is a place for intellectual exchange, discussion, and enrichment, which enhances the values of Jordanian society. This was during the lecture he delivered in the Prince Hassan bin Talal auditorium at the university on media awareness, emphasizing that belonging is part of the message that university students carry, which creates an impact, difference, and positive value based on its effects.
Al-Ghraibeh reviewed his university and media experience and how students can form a student body through dialogue. He emphasized that culture is about engagement, communication, and striving to interact with the community while upholding and preserving values. He linked his experience to the serious pursuit of ambition, asserting that youth create their opportunities by equipping themselves with knowledge, experiences, and skills that enable them to succeed and reach the future they aspire to.
Al-Ghraibeh also addressed the issue of technological fear and internet addiction, which have become daily dilemmas due to significant media misinformation, the bias of major media institutions, and the manipulation of consciousness, alongside adopting false narratives. He pointed out the need for technical superiority and scientific and religious grounding on how to receive information from platforms and verify it with knowledge and awareness, enhancing media immunity and moral integrity, noting that media neutrality means revealing the truth to the public as a responsibility to raise awareness within the community.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Professor Anas Abu Atta, who introduced and moderated the lecture, stressed the importance and necessity of media awareness in our lives due to its positive impacts that guide our daily conduct.
During the lecture attended by several deans, faculty members, and students, there was an extensive dialogue where Al-Ghraibeh responded to questions and inquiries from the audience that addressed various issues related to media awareness and neutrality.
