English Language Curricula in the Transjordan Period (1921-1946)
This study aims at identifying English Language curricula in the Transjordan period. The study follows the analytical descriptive research in reviewing historical documents relevant to English Language curricula, and it conducts an interview with one of the students from that period. After analyzing the data from those documents and that interview, categorizing and classifying processes were carried out. The results of the study show that the Administration of Education in that period was responsible for choosing the English Language curricula, and it leaves a room for secondary schools headmasters to choose what is appropriate for their schools. They also show that in the first phase of that period teachers were mostly graduates of the American University of Beirut, they weren't from Transjordan, and they didn't have English Language qualifications. The late generation of English Language teachers in the second phase of that period were graduates of the Transjordan schools of Irbid, Salt and Kerak. Moreover; the study results show that English Language curricula and textbooks were taught in the third grade then later on they were taught in the fourth grade in all the Trans-Jordan schools. The components of the English Language curriculum ranged from 3 parts in the third grade to 7 parts in the sixth grade
