The degree of practicing extra-curricular language activities among non-Arabic speaking students at the Language Center at Al al-Bayt University and its relationship to gender, nationality and academic level variables
The current study aimed to identify the degree of practicing extra-curricular language activities among non-Arabic speaking students at the Language Center at Al al-Bayt University and its relationship to gender, nationality and academic level. The study used the descriptive analytical approach. The study sample consisted of (45) male and female non-Arabic speaking students, and they were randomly selected from the total number of (80) male and female students during the first semester of the 2015/2016 academic year. Extra-curricular linguistic activities among non-Arabic speaking students, and after verifying the validity and stability of the tool, it was applied to the study sample. The results of the study related to the first question indicated that literary competitions had the highest response in a medium degree in practicing language activities, while the dimension of journalism followed. And the media, and obtained the second degree in terms of possession of students with a medium degree as well, then followed by the library friends with a medium degree as well, and it came in fourth place after educational and entertainment trips with a medium degree as well, followed by seminars and lectures at a medium degree as well, and it came in sixth place after acting The theater is also at a medium degree, and the average response of the study sample members on the scale was at a medium degree, and the results of the study related to the second question indicated a There are no statistically significant differences on the total scale of the degree of practicing activities that are attributed to the variable of gender and nationality, and there are differences due to the academic level, as the students of the intermediate level have outperformed their peers of the students of the beginner level, and it is also noted that the students of the advanced level have outperformed the their peers from the beginner level in all dimensions of the scale, while there were no statistically significant differences between students from the intermediate level and the advanced level.
