Al al-Bayt University participates in the World Conference on Geology and Earth Sciences in Paris, France.
Dr. Hani Al-Amoush from the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Al al-Bayt University participated in the 7th Edition of the World Congress on Geology and Earth Science, which was held in the French capital, Paris, from September 9-10, 2026, with the participation of more than 80 researchers, academics, and specialists from various countries around the world.
During the conference, Dr. Al-Amoush presented a scientific lecture entitled:
"Geophysical Investigation of Basaltic Lava Tubes for Groundwater Recharge Using ERT and GPR Techniques," which dealt with the employment of modern geophysical techniques, especially Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), in studying basaltic volcanic tunnels and evaluating their potential for water storage and enhancing groundwater recharge.
The lecture highlighted the importance of utilizing the geological characteristics of volcanic systems to support water harvesting programs and recharge groundwater reservoirs, through the use of modern geophysical surveys to detect subsurface structures and voids and assess their suitability for water storage, thereby contributing to the development of innovative and sustainable scientific solutions to address water scarcity challenges and water resource management.
The conference witnessed the participation of an elite group of researchers, academics, and specialists in earth sciences and geology from a number of countries around the world, including the United States of America, Canada, China, Chile, France, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Russia, Slovenia, Belgium, Italy, and Greece, in addition to participants from other countries.
This scientific participation of Dr. Al-Amoush comes within the framework of Al al-Bayt University's keenness to support scientific research and enhance the presence of faculty members in international scientific forums and conferences, thereby contributing to the exchange of scientific experiences and knowledge and highlighting the university's research output at the international level.
