The Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Al al-Bayt University organized a scientific day entitled "Earth, Environment, and Sustainable Future," under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Habes Al-Mashaqa, and with the participation of a group of academics and researchers specializing in the fields of environment and earth sciences.
The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Al-Mashaqa, stated that the organization of this scientific day comes within the framework of enhancing environmental awareness and highlighting the most prominent issues related to climate change, groundwater, and environmental sustainability, in addition to linking scientific research to contemporary environmental challenges and focusing on environmental justice, economic efficiency, and social resilience.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Qudah from Yarmouk University, a professor of microscopic fossils and petroleum, gave a lecture dealing with climate change and its effects on the environment and natural resources.
Dr. Rawan Al-Assaf from the University of Applied Sciences also gave a lecture on the close relationship between environment and health, stressing the importance of integration between health and environmental sciences in facing modern challenges.
In the axis of water and geophysical exploration, Professor Dr. Hani Al-Amoush presented a specialized lecture on deep geophysical exploration of groundwater in Jordan, reviewing the latest technologies used in this field.
Professor Dr. Sura Al-Harahsheh also addressed in her lecture the concept of the urban environment and sustainable development, and the importance of adopting sustainable environmental practices to preserve natural resources for future generations.
The activities of the scientific day concluded with a lecture by Dr. Ibrahim Hamdan dealing with groundwater and its relationship to sustainability, stressing the need for rational management of water resources in light of increasing environmental and climate challenges.
For his part, the head of the Department of Earth and Applied Environmental Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shdefat, affirmed the importance of holding such scientific events that contribute to enhancing environmental awareness and linking the academic aspect to real issues and challenges, pointing out that the department is keen to support issues of environment and sustainable development.
The scientific day, which was managed by Engineer Hani Al-Sharafa, witnessed the attendance of faculty members, students, and those interested in environmental affairs.
