The College of Earth and Environmental Sciences participates in the 11th International Conference of the Jordanian Geologists Association and the 10th International Conference on the Geology of the Eastern Mediterranean.
The College of Earth and Environmental Sciences participated in the 11th International Conference of the Jordanian Geological Society and the 10th International Conference on East Mediterranean Geology, which took place at the Geneva Hotel in the capital, Amman, from October 22 to 24, 2024. The event was attended by the college dean, Dr. Habes Al-Mashaqbeh, and the head of the Earth and Applied Environmental Sciences Department, Dr. Ahmad Shdeifat, along with several faculty and administrative staff members. A number of faculty members and graduate students from the college presented several scientific papers at the conference, including:
• Ibraheem Hamdan, (2024), "Determination of Karst Aquifer Response to Precipitation and Pollution Events using Multi-Spatially Variable Parameters: Case study of Northern Jordan."
• Nabeel Shawaqfeh, Hani Al-Amoush, Abdel Rahaman Al-Shabeeb, (2024), "Geophysics and AHP-GIS Based Approach for Water Harvesting Study in Eastern Sub-Catchment Area of Amman –Zarqa Basin."
• Rahma Qudsia, Hani Al-Amoush, Rida Al-Adamat, (2023), "Groundwater Recharge Potential Assessment in Azraq Basin, Jordan using Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) - GIS AND Geophysical Techniques."
• Majed Ibrahim and Emad Al-Rjoub, (2024), "Geothermal Potential Modeling using Remote Sensing Data and GIS Techniques."
Over the course of three days, the conference discussed various topics related to Earth and Environmental Sciences, such as mining, water and sustainability, dams and water harvesting, oil and gas in Jordan and the Arab world, water resources, applied geology, disasters and natural hazards, tourism, and geological heritage, along with other subjects. It is noteworthy that faculty member Dr. Hani Al-Amoush represented Al al-Bayt University at the conference as a member of both the scientific and organizing committees.
Additionally, several students from the Applied Earth Sciences and Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing departments participated in the conference activities. In recognition of the commendable efforts, the dean of the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences extends his gratitude, on his behalf and on behalf of the faculty and administrative staff, to the esteemed president of the Jordanian Geological Society, Mr. Khaled Al-Shawabka, the council members, and the members of the scientific and organizing committees for their excellent management and organization of the conference sessions. Special thanks also go to Mr. Ziad Al-Khawaldeh, the director of the logistics support department, and Mr. Youssef Al-Tawneh, the head of the movement section, for their continuous efforts and cooperation with all the college's activities and events.
