Memorandum of Understanding between Al al-Bayt University and the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ)

The president of Al al-Bayt University, Dr. Osama Nusair, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment project, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with GIZ, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union. This agreement aims to maximize the benefits of shared experiences between both parties during the collaboration period. The Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE) project will facilitate the inclusion of university staff involved in entrepreneurship within capacity development plans that align with the project's activities and goals. Additionally, it will ease students’ access to available entrepreneurial support opportunities during the project implementation period, provided they meet any required criteria.

The E4DE project and the university are also working to establish an entrepreneurial network in the Mafraq Governorate. The aim of this network is to enhance and develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region. The network is founded on sustainability, capacity development, and a commitment to impactful practices. It will be managed by a steering committee agreed upon and selected by stakeholders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Mafraq. The agreement also includes comprehensive facilitation to ensure smooth implementation of the project’s activities within the university and the Mafraq Governorate, as well as collaboration in organizing events and conferences related to entrepreneurship and striving to share opportunities and experiences that the project offers with students and stakeholders at the university.

Dr. Nusair emphasized the importance of supporting students and providing opportunities by coordinating with specialized centers at the university, such as the Center of Excellence for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Center for Sustainable Development, and the Center for Women’s Support. Project manager, Ms. Kim Bauer, expressed her appreciation for the university's efforts, support, and cooperation in assisting project activities in the Mafraq Governorate and achieving the project's goal of creating job opportunities by supporting entrepreneurship. She also confirmed that the targeted groups and sectors within the project's activities are inclusive and aimed at improving access to opportunities.
