The-Minister-of-Culture-inaugurates-Al-al-Bayt-University--Festival

Under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Haifa Al-Najjar, Al al-Bayt University launched "Al al-Bayt University International Cultural Festival" with a large official and popular presence.

Al-Najjar stated that the opening of the festival, which coincides with the Kingdom's celebrations of the 76th Independence Day, expresses Al al-Bayt University's mission aimed at developing the local community within a cultural, touristic, artistic, and family festival that is directed to revive hope among citizens in the wake of two years of conditions that accompanied the Corona pandemic. She added that the festival plays an important role in promoting the sightseeing areas in Mafraq Governorate, which contain many historical churches as well as heritage sites and museums.

President of Al al-Bayt University, Prof. Hani al-Dmour, indicated that the festival carries a message of love, peace, culture and tolerance and contributes to strengthening the bonds of communication and interaction with the local, national and international community. He pointed out that the festival comes from the core of the mission of Al al-Bayt University aimed at keeping pace with development and serving science and humanity under the Hashemite banner and leadership of King Abdullah bin Al Hussein, may God protect him.

The guest of honor of the festival, actress Qamar Al-Safadi, said that “I am standing today on the campus of the prestigious Al al-Bayt University, which has graduated thousands of students who have enriched science and culture and contributed to the advancement of society."

The opening ceremony was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Saud Al Thani, the Bangladeshi Ambassador, Nahida Salman, His Excellency the Governor of Mafraq, Salman Al-Najada, the cultural attachés of the Malaysian and Russian embassies in Jordan, Prof. Dhafer Al-Sarayrah, Head of the Higher Education Accreditation Commission, commanders of the security services, the Governorate's mayors, sheikhs and notables. It included the march of the sports festival, accompanied by the Music of the Armed Forces and the scout troupe, where the torch of the four-day festival was launched. It also involves artistic performances by the Malaysian band, Yarmouk University choir, and poetry by the poets Hilal Al-Shorofat and Mohammad Al-Masa'eed.

At the end of the opening ceremony, Dr. Al-Dmour, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, the Vice-Presidents and the Dean of Student Affairs, toured the corridors of the festival, which includes bazaars, handicrafts and productions of the participants from Mafraq Governorate, as well as sightseeing trips to some archaeological sites that characterize the Governorate locally and globally.
