The Consulting, Training, and Capacity Building Center conducted a training workshop for university students on radiation awareness and the use of portable detection devices.

The Consulting, Training, and Capacity Building Center conducted a training workshop for university students on radiation awareness and the use of portable detection devices, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop students' skills and enhance their scientific and practical knowledge.

The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Technical Education at the University and the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, in the presence of a number of university students and interested parties, in the Al-Bukhit Amphitheater at the Faculty of Business.

During the opening of the workshop, the Director of the Center, Dr. Haifa Al-Dalabeeh, affirmed the university's welcome to organizing such activities, noting that the training workshop, which lasts for three days, aims to enhance students' knowledge of the principles of radiation and nuclear security, introduce international standards and safety procedures, in addition to developing their practical skills in the use of radiation detection devices.

The workshop, presented by Engineer Muhammad Al-Dalabeeh from the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, included several themes in which experts and specialists from the Commission spoke. Al-Dalabeeh presented the training material and the workshop agenda, which will be presented to students throughout the days of the workshop.

In the first theme, in which the Head of the Border Monitoring Department, Engineer Amer Ghazi, spoke about the role of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, he interacted with the students through practical applications that contributed to consolidating the culture of nuclear security among them. He also reviewed the Commission's mission, the peaceful and research uses of the nuclear reactor, in addition to the types of radiation and the uses of radiation and nuclear materials.

The second theme, presented by Engineer Muhammad Al-Dalabeeh, witnessed an interactive discussion with the attendees and dealt with the peaceful uses of radiation in the medical and therapeutic fields, as well as non-peaceful uses. He also touched on the basics of radiation and its applications, the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy, and the definition of isotopes.

In the third theme, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafreh reviewed the principles of radiation protection, explaining the difference between exposure and contamination, the risks of ionizing radiation and its biological effects, and its effects on the human body, in addition to radiation protection equipment.

The workshop concluded with a fourth theme presented by Engineer Amer Ghazi, in which he discussed radiation detection devices, where he carried out practical training in front of the students on the use of devices and detection systems, explaining the concepts of exposure, contamination and radioactivity.

The workshop also witnessed a presentation of the devices used, the distribution of brochures and introductory booklets, in addition to the implementation of practical applications in which a number of students participated, which contributed to enhancing the practical aspect for them.
