Al al-Bayt University approves high-quality academic decisions in line with the supreme royal visions and the vision of economic modernization, including the development and reorganization of a number of academic programs.
Al al-Bayt University's Board of Deans approves a package of developmental decisions for academic programs in line with the supreme royal visions for comprehensive modernization led by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, with direct follow-up from His Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission. Following the financial measures approved by the Council of Ministers to enhance the sustainability of official universities, Al al-Bayt University continued to align its academic tracks with the priorities of national modernization, youth empowerment, and linking education outputs to the needs of the labor market within the framework of the vision of economic modernization.
In this context, the President of the University, Professor Osama Nseir, announced that the Council of Deans, in its session No. (9/2025/2026) held on 11/2/2026, approved a package of strategic decisions to restructure academic disciplines and create new high-quality programs that respond to economic and technological transformations, in addition to suspending admission for the academic year 2026/2027 in a number of stagnant and saturated programs from bachelor's programs (Political Science, Sports, Physics, Chemistry, Jurisprudence and its Origins, Arabic Language and Literature, Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Child Education) as well as in graduate programs (Applied Geology, Islamic Education Curricula and Teaching Methods, Economics and International Cooperation, Financial and Business Economics, Curricula and Teaching / Social Studies, Principles of Religion, Chemistry, Architecture Engineering, Physics, Geographic Information Sciences, Life Sciences, Curricula and Teaching / Science, Curricula and Teaching / Mathematics, Mathematics, Curricula and Teaching / English Language, Sharia Judiciary), in order to enhance the efficiency of resource allocation and raise the quality of educational outputs. Also, a number of academic programs were restructured to meet the requirements of the labor market, such as the History program to become "History and Civilization", Life Sciences to become "Biotechnology", and Management Information Systems to become "Business Information Technology".
Dr. Nseir affirmed that these decisions represent an accurate institutional translation of the supreme royal directives that emphasize the modernization of educational paths, the expansion of technical and applied education, and the provision of students with the specialized skills required by the national economy, in a way that contributes to supplying the local market with qualified technical and professional competencies, reducing unemployment rates, and expanding the base of employment and production, in support of the state's path in comprehensive economic modernization.
He explained that the Council conducted an in-depth evaluative review of the existing specializations and their study plans based on performance indicators, the needs of the productive sectors, and prospective studies of the labor market, in order to ensure the development of programs according to the best international standards and practices. The decisions also included the creation of specializations that keep pace with digital transformation and the requirements of the modern industrial revolution, in a way that enhances the competitiveness of graduates at the local and regional levels, and consolidates the university's position as a leading academic institution in the service of national development.
Likewise, a specialized committee of financial experts was formed based on the directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to prepare a financial plan for the university for the period 2026-2029 that is in line with the vision of economic modernization, including specific measures within time frames and performance indicators to ensure the measurement of financial performance and control standards to follow up on its implementation.
Dr. Nseir stressed that the university is continuing to strengthen its partnerships with public and private sector institutions, in a way that ensures the sustainability of development and achieves effective integration between education and the labor market, and in a way that serves the supreme national interest and enhances Jordan's position as a center for academic and professional excellence.
Here, the President of the University and its academic and administrative family express their sincere appreciation to the Prime Minister and members of the Council of Ministers, to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and to the President of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority, for the financial decisions issued by the Council of Ministers, which represent a qualitative support for official universities by alleviating the financial burdens on them and enabling them to enhance their institutional sustainability and develop their infrastructure in a way that serves the educational and research process.
