The university launches a pioneering national initiative and radio campaign entitled "A Step of Voice" to empower and integrate people with disabilities.

Under the patronage of the President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Osama Nusier, the University launches a pioneering national radio initiative and campaign entitled "A Step of Voice" to empower and integrate persons with disabilities and enhance societal awareness of their rights.


On behalf of the President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Osama Nusie​r, the Vice President for Community Affairs, Professor Hani Akhu Arsheida, sponsored the launch of the initiative, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Professor Youssef Miqdadi, and a number of representatives of the local community, bodies and government institutions, in the Prince Hassan bin Talal Amphitheater at the University.


This pioneering national radio initiative, entitled "A Step of Voice," aims to empower and integrate persons with disabilities and enhance societal awareness of their rights. It was launched through the University's Voice Radio as a unique radio initiative concerned with the issues and rights of persons with disabilities.


The initiative's coordinator, Dr. Haifa Al-Dalabih, a specialist in special education, confirmed that this initiative came as a step reflecting the University's commitment to its societal and humanitarian role towards this segment, and to establishing a culture of comprehensive inclusion under the slogan: "Difference is strength... and inclusion is everyone's responsibility." It comes in cooperation with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with a vision aimed at raising awareness of the rights of this community group.


The initiative aims to highlight the reality of persons with disabilities in the Mafraq Governorate and the surrounding local communities, as a serious step towards a more inclusive, aware and supportive society for persons with disabilities, by preparing radio and field programs and interviews that host experts and specialists, and highlight success stories and inspiring experiences that reflect the capabilities of this group and its active role in society.


Maram Al-Damour from the King Abdullah neighborhood school gave a speech in which she pointed out the importance of patience in making a difference when dealing with persons with disabilities, in order to achieve inclusive education that takes into account individual differences.


The launch ceremony of the initiative included a video presentation showing the inclusive education plan that is implemented through academic institutions.


The initiative also sought to enhance participatory dialogue with relevant institutions and official bodies, emphasizing the importance of integration between academic media and national institutions in serving community issues, and raising the level of media awareness in addressing disability issues professionally and responsibly, in a way that contributes to conveying the voice of persons with disabilities to decision-makers, and supporting efforts for full inclusion in various aspects of life.


The child, Wuroud Abu Rabie, from the King Abdullah neighborhood school, presented her success story and excellence.


The ceremony, which witnessed a distinguished attendance, concluded with the honoring of the supporting parties and partners in this initiative by the representative of the President of the University, Professor Hani Akhu Arsheida. The ceremony was managed and presented by Engineer Ikram Alimat.
