Faculty of Educational Sciences Organizes a Workshop on Quality Requirements in Jordanian Higher Education Institutions at Al al-Bayt University
The Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al al-Bayt University organized a workshop entitled "Quality Requirements in Jordanian Higher Education Institutions," in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Professor Dr. Youssef Al-Miqdadi, his deputy, Professor Dr. Ziad Al-Tah, and the Assistant Dean, Dr. Saleh Al-Khawaldeh, in the Centennial Hall at the university.
The workshop featured Dr. Farid Al-Khazaaleh, a specialist in educational technology, Dr. Alaa Al-Harahsheh, Head of the Department of Educational Administration and Principles, and Dr. Mamoun Al-Zoubon, Head of the Department of Curricula and Teaching, who discussed the quality requirements in Jordanian higher education institutions in lectures directed to the faculty members of the university.
The participants reviewed, through a presentation, a number of basic concepts in quality in higher education, including the concept of quality, the role of the quality evaluator, and the importance of the role of the faculty member in achieving quality requirements, starting with updating the curriculum vitae, research output, documentation, and evidence, and ending with the importance of considering quality as a continuous daily practice, performance indicators, and drafting the final report.
The lecturers also pointed out that the quality evaluator views the faculty member through the course descriptions, teaching plans, evaluation tools, and the extent to which learning outcomes are achieved, stressing the importance of professional development for the faculty member through participation in courses and workshops, developing teaching methods, and documenting development activities, while noting a number of common mistakes and the need to avoid them, such as not updating the course description and focusing on teaching without evaluation.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Alaa Al-Harahsheh spoke about how to prepare for a visit from quality expert committees by organizing the course file and documenting all practices and cooperation with the Quality Unit, while Dr. Mamoun Al-Zoubon affirmed that quality does not detract from the freedom of the faculty member, but rather highlights the academic effort in a professional manner, while Dr. Farid Al-Khazaaleh concluded the workshop by emphasizing that quality is a continuous practice, that the quality evaluator is a partner in development, and that the faculty member is the basis of quality.
The workshop was attended by heads of departments and faculty members in the Faculty of Educational Sciences and a number of university faculties, and witnessed discussions, questions and interventions on the procedures and standards of quality in higher education.
