Secretary-General of the Arab Thought Forum lectures at Al al-Bayt University

On behalf of the President of the University, Professor Osama Nusier, the Vice President for Financial Affairs and Investment, Professor Marai Bani Khaled, received the Secretary-General of the Arab Thought Forum, Professor Al-Sadiq Al-Faqih, who attended to deliver a lecture organized by the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences at Al al-Bayt University entitled "Reading in the Book Borders of Blood by the Thinker Ralph Peters." During the meeting, aspects of joint academic and cultural cooperation between the university and the forum were discussed, honorary shields were exchanged, and Dr. Al-Faqih presented a number of the forum's publications to the university presidency.

During his lecture, Al-Sadiq Al-Faqih presented a comprehensive reading of the article "Blood Borders" by retired American General Ralph Peters, which was published in 2006, and included proposals to re-divide the Middle East on ethnic, religious and sectarian grounds, claiming that this would create better conditions for oppressed minorities, and bring about a new change after the Sykes-Picot Agreement drawn up by European countries, according to Peters.

Al-Faqih added that Peters' plan includes re-dividing some countries and adding new regions to others, such as Yemen, which he proposes to annex parts of southern Saudi Arabia to, and Iraq, which he imagines dividing into a Shiite state in the south, a Sunni state in the center, and a Kurdish state in the north. As for the religious areas in Saudi Arabia, Peters suggests placing Mecca and Medina under a special religious authority similar to the Vatican, arguing that if it is impossible to modify the borders of the Middle East in a way that reflects the natural ties of blood and creed, the bloodshed will continue.

Al-Faqih commented that this proposed division is only a reflection of a fierce competition for political interests, natural resources, and water and land passages that abound in the region, and this can only be achieved through fragmenting and dismantling Arab countries, especially in the Middle East.

Al-Faqih also pointed out that Peters did not specify any borders for Israel, and left the door open for future expansionist ambitions with the support of the United States of America.

For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences, Professor Saeed Abu Khadr, stressed the importance of the lecture topic in helping students understand the regional reality from a scientific perspective, and enabling them to avoid misleading content on social media.

At the end of the lecture, which was moderated by the Head of the History Department, Dr. Khader Al-Sarhan, and attended by faculty members and students of the college, an extensive dialogue took place on new perceptions of the region from an American perspective.
