Student Debates Qualifications in the Deanship of Student Affairs

The Deanship of Student Affairs / Department of Political Education and Educational Guidance / Student Organizations and Political Education Division, through the Dialogue and Debate Club, held a student debate over two days: Sunday and Tuesday, corresponding to May 11 and 13, 2025.


The elimination mechanism was based on a periodic elimination system, which allowed all teams a fair and balanced opportunity to compete.


The championship witnessed high levels of discussion and enthusiasm, as the topics covered were diverse and reflected the debaters' abilities in analysis, logic, and persuasion.


Five teams participated in the championship, and two teams qualified for the final match. The following statements were presented in the first four rounds:

 • This council believes that reform begins with municipalities, not parliament.

 • This council believes that abolishing the women's quota will lead to a decline in women's political representation.

 • This council believes that the election boycott weakens the desired change.

 • This council believes that the absence of strong parties is the reason for the weakness of political life.


In the final round, the following statement was presented:

“This council believes that the persistence of the same political elites hinders change.”


The team consisting of Nour Al-Shurafa, Anwar Al-Jaraydah, and Muhammad Al-Talawi was able to achieve first place, while the team consisting of Basma Al-Sardieh, Israa Al-Sharman, and Yaqeen Mashaqa won second place.


Certificates were awarded to the participants in the debate over the two days by the Director of the Department of Political Education, Mr. Abdul Halim Abu Dalbouh. The championship was supervised by the President of the Dialogue and Debate Club, student Qusai Alimat, and from the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Head of the Student Organizations and Political Education Division, Mr. Muhammad Shawaqfeh.
