The President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Dr. Osama Nusair, sponsored the seminar organized by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities - Department of History, titled "From the Builder to the Enhancer: A Continuous Journey," on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of King Hussein, may God rest his soul, as part of the open cultural season for the Faculty of Arts, in the presence of the Vice President for Academic and Engineering Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Alawneh, and the Vice President for Community Affairs and International Relations, Professor Dr. Hani Akho Rashida.
The seminar began with Professor Dr. Fawaz Abdul Haq Al-Zboun from Yarmouk University discussing memories and experiences he shared with King Hussein, who used to welcome and support students of knowledge, directing their scholarships to achieve the highest academic degrees to optimally invest in young talents for the sake of building and uplifting the nation.
Dr. Marwan Al-Hunawi from the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization spoke about Jordan's supportive stance toward the people in Gaza and Palestine and the aid provided since the establishment of the charity in 1990 under the directives of King Hussein. The organization continued to provide in-kind and medical aid, contributed to building Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza and the West Bank, and sent aid convoys both by air and land to Gaza.
Professor Dr. Anwar Al-Khalidi from Al al-Bayt University addressed the significant achievements during the reign of King Hussein the Builder, the most important of which was establishing the foundations of the inclusive Jordanian identity for all origins and backgrounds of the citizens. King Hussein's wisdom had a profound impact on national unity under the Hashemite banner.
Dr. Faisal Al-Mayouf from Al al-Bayt University discussed the features of renaissance and development during the reign of King Hussein the Builder of modern Jordan, where Jordan experienced comprehensive progress in education, health, infrastructure, and the empowerment of women and youth. It laid the foundations upon which Jordan's stability and advancement were built, making it a model to be emulated in the region and the world.
For his part, Dr. Fathi Al-Shawawreh from Al al-Bayt University addressed King Hussein's supportive stances on the Palestinian cause, affirming the two-state solution in all international forums and his efforts to establish peace in the Middle East.
Dr. Alaa Saada from Al al-Bayt University spoke about the strong Jordanian-Saudi relations during King Hussein's reign, highlighting how he, through his diplomacy and deep connections, managed to expand the maritime outlet of the Port of Aqaba in agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which contributed to increasing maritime trade activity with the rest of the world.
Dr. Abdul Majid Al-Haj from Al al-Bayt University reviewed the European media's, particularly the German media's, perception of King Hussein the Builder, noting the Western media's interest in Jordan as one of the most stable countries in the Middle East, thanks to King Hussein’s conservative policies and diplomacy.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Dr. Said Abu Khdeir, emphasized the importance of the seminar in instilling national values in the hearts of university students and enriching their general culture with the history of Jordan filled with achievements since the era of King Hussein the Builder and the continuation of the journey during the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah the Enhancer.
At the end of the seminar, which was managed by the Head of the History Department, Dr. Khidr Al-Sarhan, and attended by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Ayman Al-Tahani, along with department heads and academic and administrative staff, the Vice President, Professor Dr. Hani Akho Rashida, presented certificates of appreciation to the speakers.
