The Center for Modeling and Simulation for Risk Analysis is holding a training course on groundwater modeling.

The Risk Analysis Modeling and Simulation Center held a comprehensive training course on groundwater modeling aimed at equipping professionals and experts with the latest scientific methods and tools for effective groundwater analysis and management. The course started on July 21, 2024, and lasted for four days. It covered several topics including the basics of hydrogeology, the mathematical principles of groundwater flow modeling, data analysis, and hands-on training in advanced modeling programs like MODFLOW.

Dr. Muayed Samah Al-Shuaqfa, the director of the Risk Analysis Modeling and Simulation Center, noted that this initiative aims to build local capacities in groundwater modeling and to provide participants with the knowledge and essential tools for making informed decisions in water resource management. He added, "We look forward to broad participation from professionals and researchers in this vital field."

The course also included real case studies, allowing participants to apply what they learned to actual projects, which enhances their understanding and develops their practical skills. Comprehensive educational materials were provided, along with support from qualified trainers with extensive experience in the field.

A group of researchers from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Arab Potash Company, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Potash Company, and the Phosphate Company participated in the course. At the end of the course, the university president distributed participation certificates to the trainees.
