A doctoral thesis in English in the Philosophy Program in Jurisprudence and its Principles is the first of its kind at the level of Sharia colleges in the Middle East.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, the doctoral thesis in Philosophy focusing on Jurisprudence and its Principles by the student Ghaith Hani Al-Qudat was discussed. This thesis was written and defended in English, making it the first PhD thesis at Al al-Bayt University and in the Middle East to be composed and discussed in English in the field of Sharia Colleges specializing in Jurisprudence and its principles. 

The university president, Professor Osama Nusair, attended part of the discussion and praised this outstanding academic step taken by the College of Sharia. Also present were the university's vice president, Professor Hani Akho Rasheda, Dean of the College of Sharia, Professor Anas Abu Ata, and a selection of professors and graduate students.

The thesis was supervised by Professor Oruwa Al-Dwairi, the deputy dean of the College of Sharia. The discussion committee included Professor Adnan Al-Assaf from the University of Jordan, Professor Muhammad Al-Khatib, and Professor Amer Al-Hafi from Al al-Bayt University. 

The committee approved awarding Ghaith Hani Al-Qudah the doctorate degree in Jurisprudence and its Principles with honors, approved his thesis with minor amendments, and recommended printing and publishing his thesis titled "The Rulings of the Dhimmis According to Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyah in Light of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: A Contemporary Jurisprudential and Maqasidi Study," which had the English title: "AḤKĀM AHL AL-DHIMMA ACCORDING TO IBN QAYEIM AL-JAWZĪYAH IN LIGHT OF THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS, A CONTEMPORARY JURISPRUDENTIAL AND MAQĀṢIDĪ STUDY."​
