INVESTIGATING THE ACTUAL STORAGE CAPACITY OF SHARHABIEL BIN HASANAH DAM
Sharhabiel Bin Hasnah Dam was constructed 37 years ago (1966) with
a total reservoir storage capacity of 4.4 million cubic meters. For the first time the actual storage capacity of the reservoir had been calculated using 11 surveying cross-sections. An echo sounder was used during the survey. The results indicate that the reservoir storage capacity is 2.78 million cubic meters. This implies that an annual reduction of 47000 cubic meters of the reservoir storage capacity is taking place due to sediment deposition.
