About the Department

 

The Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics program at Al al-Bayt University was accredited by the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for the 2023/2024 academic year under the supervision of the Faculty of Sciences/Department of Life Sciences, before joining the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences in 2024. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics grants a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics after a four-year program, including a full semester of practical training in the fourth year. This major focuses on studying the impact of food and nutrition on human health, particularly in the context of various diseases and medical conditions. It also focuses on educating and training students in advanced scientific fields, including therapeutic nutrition, nutritional counselling for patients, and developing therapeutic nutritional programs that meet their health needs.

 

The curriculum in the Clinical Nutrition Department includes an in-depth study of the impact of food on various diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease, in addition to learning nutritional therapy techniques in hospitals and clinics. The program also includes practical training in hospitals and healthcare centres, giving students the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a realistic medical setting. This department is an important part of the applied medical sciences programs, as it contributes to the preparation of clinical nutrition specialists capable of providing appropriate nutritional care to improve patients' health and contribute to the treatment of many health conditions.
