THE LEVEL OF SOCIAL SKILLS AMONG CHILDREN WITH ACADEMIC LEARNING DISABILITIES IN JORDAN IN LIGHT OF SOME VARIABLES
Abstract The purpose of the study is to investigate the level of social skills among children with academic learning disabilities in light of gender, class level and type of disability. The sample of the study was composed of (117) students with learning disabilities enrolled in resource rooms at Northern Mazar Educational District. To achieve the purpose of the study, a measurement scale for social skills among children with academic disabilities is developed, and it validity and reliability are proved. The results of the study revealed that level of social skills among students with academic learning disabilities is low. The study also showed that there are statistically significant differences at (?=0.05) due to gender in all study domains and the total instrument is in favor of female students. The results of the study indicates statistically significant differences at (?=0.05) due to class level in all study domains and the total instrument between 6th and 2 nd grades students, in favor of 6th grade students in all domains and total social skills. The researchers recommend that there is a need for educational programs concerned with social skill among child with academic learning disabilities.
