The Attitudes of Female Student-teachers at Al al-Bayt University towards Teaching Profession in Male Schools
This study aimed to investigate the attitudes of female student-teachers at Al al-Bayt University towards teaching profession in male schools, and to identify the differences in these attitudes according to the variables of place of residence (desert, village, city), and the stage of school which the female student-teacher desires to teach in (primary, secondary). The sample of the study consisted of 231 randomly selected female student-teachers at Al al-Bayt University. The student-teachers were enrolled in the practical course during the academic year 2009/ 2010. To achieve the aims of the study, a 36- five response item questionnaire divided into four dimensions was built. The results of the study showed that female student-teachers had positive attitudes towards teaching Profession in male schools. The results also showed that there were differences in student-teachers' attitudes due to the place of residence in favor of "village" and "desert". Finally, the results did not reveal any differences in student-teachers' attitudes due to attributed to the stage of school which the female student-teacher desires to teach in.
