Gender Role Orientations Among a university Students Sample
The purpose of this study was to investigate the gender role orientations among a sample of Al al-Bayt university students. Data were collected from a stratified random sample consisting from (400) student (half males and half females) from the different colleges. Bem gender role scale was used after modifying it to meet the Jordanian culture. The results revealed that the students' orientations were towards the unconventional gender roles (i.e., Androgen, undifferentiated). However, a significant relationship between sex and gender has been revealed. On the other hand, there was no relationship between neither the student academic level nor the students' college and gender role orientations. The results have been discussed in the light of the developmental cognitive theory, the gender schema theory and the empirical evidence gained about the different socialization for the males and females
