The semiology of the title and the structure of the narrative discourse in Khalid Bin Sulaiman Al-Kindi's novel "The White Jaid": Function and Significance
Abstract This research answers key questions related to the dialectic of the title and the structure of the speech, through the novel (The White Jaid) by Omani writer Khalid bin Sulaiman al-Kindi. He sought a linguistic and rhetorical approach to the title, linking it to the structure and subtitles of the narrative discourse, revealing its symbolic and semantic dimensions, its suggestive and enticing functions, and the extent to which the title contributed to interpretive trajectories at the level of language, beyond language in one way, and to the structure of narrative discourse in another. He pointed to the writer's ability to choose the title (The White Jaid), which semiotically identifies with the structure of narrative discourse, and the movement of the main character, and the study also revealed that the title is a semiotic sign that contains, assimilates, and reproduces the system of human values. The research concluded that semiotics, as a system based on language, and beyond language, can view the title as a revealing structure of the aesthetics and cognitive, cultural, historical and social trends of the novel (The White Jaid). The research concluded that the title could be viewed as one of the critical mechanisms, or procedural concepts that remove ambiguity about the structure of the narrative speech, and about the dialectic of the relationship between the title and the original text.
