Department In Brief

The Department of physics was established at the beginning of the academic year 1994/1995. The department provides programs in physics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The department at the moment has 330 undergraduate, and 30 graduate students. The faculty members are eleven, specialized in different experimental and theoretical fields: Mathematical physics, Solid State Physics, High-Energy Physics, Nuclear Physics, Nano physics, and Computational Physics. In addition, two academic members from the Institute of Astronomy and Space Sciences teach some courses related to physics.
The department is equipped with modern labs for teaching and research purposes Some of them are:

1. Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM)
2. Ellipsometer and Thin-Films
3. Electron Microscope
4. X-ray diffraction
   

The department seeks to motivate the involvement in local society issues, particularly with the minister of education. This involves giving some lectures in the filed of physics at schools and demonstrate the major experiemnts for the students that are not available at their schools.
