Computer Applications in Surveying Lab
Lab Description
Computer Applications in Surveying Laboratories of the Surveying Engineering Department is constructed over an enclosed area of 290 square meter. It is fully equipped and supported by highly qualified technical staff to respond to the needs of academic institutions, researchers, engineers and construction industries for :
(a) surveying and design using AutoCAD
(b) work with layers and file management
Equipment
Latest state of the art equipment's that are mostly fitted with computerized data collection are used to perform various types of materials testing to the highest standard. Some of these equipment are:
29 Computers
Programs:
1-1. Google Earth (is considered one of the most important maps which programs through which user can combine the bulk of the various and diverse and distinct geographic information, and use and can be used in various and diverse fields)
2-2. Civil 3D (is an engineering software application used by civil engineers and other professionals to plan, design, and manage civil engineering projects. These projects fall under the three main categories of land development, water, and transportation projects)
3-3. Global Mapper ( is an affordable and easy-to-use GIS application that offers access to an unparalleled variety of spatial datasets and provides just the right level of functionality to satisfy both experienced GIS professionals and beginning users.)
4- 4. Surfer is a full-function contouring and surface modeling package that runs under Microsoft Windows. Surfer is used extensively for terrain modeling, bathymetric modeling, landscape visualization, surface analysis, contour mapping, watershed and 3D surface mapping, gridding, view shed analysis and volumetric

Testing Services
The followings are the major activities that can be performed at Geographic Information Systems Laboratory :
Engineering design of roads in addition to the expense of cut and fill quantities and printing plates
Drawing contour maps very efficiently and draw a three-dimensional cut-outs and many other types of graphics
positioning through GPS
Show all the region or three-dimensional images of buildings or natural images of her
Technical Staff
All training programs and measurements are run by highly qualified engineers and technicians who are constantly supervised by experienced faculties in order to assure the compliance of these technical activities with international standards .we use the computer in the surveying and design using AutoCAD. It covers concepts, techniques and procedures and existing systems, drawing preparation and coordination, developing and modifying orders, and display control, work with layers and file management. It also includes editing, viewing, and the dimensions of space and paper commands, and features
