Faculty of Arts at Al al-Bayt University Holds a Scientific Seminar on Muhammad Iqbal: Renewing Thought and Building Humanity
Representing the President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Osama Nusier, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Ahmed Alawneh, sponsored the activities of the scientific seminar held by the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences in celebration of the anniversary of the birth of the Pakistani poet and writer Muhammad Iqbal, under the title "Muhammad Iqbal: Renewing Thought and Building Humanity," in the presence of the Vice President for Financial Affairs and Investment, Professor Marai Bani Khaled, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Saeed Abu Khader, and with the participation of a selection of scientists and researchers from Pakistan, India, and Yarmouk University.
The Vice President, Dr. Alawneh, said that choosing Muhammad Iqbal as the subject of this seminar expresses the university's vision in promoting civilizational and intellectual dialogue and affirming the status of man as the focus of knowledge and development, active in his society, believing in his mission, open to the world without abandoning his values and roots, adding that the importance of Muhammad Iqbal has gone beyond poetry and thought to the reconstruction of human consciousness in its moral, spiritual, and social dimensions.
Alawneh also emphasized, on the anniversary of the Amman bombings, that Jordan, under its wise Hashemite leadership, has become stronger and more determined in fighting extremist ideology so that Jordan can enjoy security and safety despite the turbulent surroundings.
At the beginning of the seminar, an introductory film was shown about the personality of Muhammad Iqbal, who, through his thought and poetry, founded a new vision for modern Islamic thought.
The seminars were chaired by Dr. Faisal Al-Mayouf, where Professor Muhammad Nasser from the University of Punjab in Lahore began the seminar with a remote research paper dealing with "Muhammad Iqbal's Message to Arab Youth and its Importance," while Professor Muhammad Sanaullah Al-Nadawi from Aligarh University in India spoke about "The Philosophical Essence of Muhammad Iqbal's Israiliyat." Professor Al-Hafiz Abdul Qadir also addressed in his research paper "Muhammad Iqbal: The Love of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in his life and poetry."
In turn, the head of the Arabic Language Department at the University, Dr. Nart Qakhoun, spoke about "Iqbal's Relevance and the Horizons of the Present and Future," while the head of the History Department, Dr. Khader Al-Sarhan, spoke about "Muhammad Iqbal the Historian," and Professor Ahmed Al-Jawarneh from Yarmouk University presented a research paper entitled "Renewing Religious Thought in Islam According to Allama Muhammad Iqbal: An Analytical Reading of the Structure of the Renewal Project and its Renaissance Stakes."
For his part, Dr. Walid Al-Hajj presented a research paper entitled "Muhammad Iqbal and his Relationship with the Arabs," while the coordinator of the ceremony, Professor Abdul Karim Jaradat, presented a reading in the book "We and Iqbal" by the writer Ali Shariati.
At the end of the ceremony, which was hosted by Dr. Omar Khazaaleh, the Vice President, Alawneh, presented certificates of appreciation to the scientists and researchers participating in the seminars.
