In the painful memory of the Amman bombings – November 9, 2005

On this day in 2005, the hearts of Jordanians were shaken with sadness and pain by the treacherous terrorist bombings that targeted beloved Amman, writing a bloody page in our national history, in which sorrow mingled with determination, and sadness with insistence on moving forward towards a more secure, united, and stable future.

Today, we remember our righteous martyrs who ascended on that dark night, and we ask God to accept them with His vast mercy, to make their resting place Paradise, and to inspire their families with patience and solace. Their pure blood was fuel for a solid national unity, which strengthened in us the spirit of belonging and loyalty, and established in the conscience of every Jordanian the meaning of steadfastness and solidarity.

At Al al-Bayt University, the university that bears a name that has its sanctity and meaning, we recall this painful memory with hearts filled with faith and pride, and we pledge to God, the homeland, and our wise Hashemite leadership to stand firm on principle, and adhere to the constants of the blessed Jordanian state that was founded on justice, moderation, love, and tolerance.

We affirm that we at Al al-Bayt University, the university of thought and moderation, are continuing to spread the culture of tolerance and peace, promote the values of dialogue and openness, and spread awareness of the danger of extremism and terrorism, which has no religion or homeland, and we instill in our students love for the homeland and belonging to it with thought, science, and work, so that they may be building blocks in the edifice of dear Jordan.

Jordan – with its wise Hashemite leadership, its Arab Armed Forces, its valiant security services, and its loyal people – will remain an example of security and safety, and a haven for goodness and giving.

O God, protect our dear Jordan from all evil, protect it with Your eye that does not sleep, and make this country safe, secure, and prosperous.

"My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits."
