A delegation from Al al-Bayt University, representing the Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah Faculty of Information Technology, including the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Muhammad Issa Al-Jaradat, Dr. Amjad Qutaish, and Dr. Areej Al-Sharman, participated in the workshop, which was held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority, through the Youth, Technology and Jobs Project and the Digital Skills Association, a workshop entitled: "Adopting Global Certificates as Micro-Learning Units within Academic Programs in Jordanian Universities," at the King Hussein Business Park, with the participation of Deans of Faculties of Information Technology, faculty members, representatives of the private sector and global certificate providers, in addition to students from various universities. This is in completion of the steps concerned with strengthening cooperation between the private sector and academic institutions, enhancing the readiness of university students for the labor market, and following up on the agreements signed between the Ministry and universities.

In a speech during the opening of the workshop, Ms. Samira Al-Zoubi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, affirmed that holding the meeting in the Academy building reflects the philosophy of practical education and joint innovation, noting that Jordan has made remarkable progress in the Global Innovation Index for 2025, ranking 65th, eight years ahead of the target in the Economic Modernization Vision.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Chairman of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority, Professor Dr. Dhafer Al-Sarayrah, Professor Saad Bani Muhammad, Vice-Chairman of the Authority, affirmed that this workshop comes as a continuation of national efforts aimed at strengthening the alignment of higher education outputs with the requirements of the labor market in light of the accelerating digital transformations. He explained that the Authority has taken a series of qualitative measures during the past period to develop academic programs, most notably raising the proportion of the practical and applied aspect in study plans to no less than 60%, adopting the project-based learning model, in addition to integrating modern skills in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data science within various disciplines.

Bani Muhammad indicated that the Authority has already completed the process of integrating these skills into the disciplines of media, business, and nursing, and is currently following up with Jordanian universities to complete their integration into the remaining programs, in order to ensure the readiness of graduates for the labor market locally, regionally, and internationally. He also stressed that micro-credentials are a practical and flexible tool to provide students with globally recognized skills, and that the Authority will work to accredit them and link them to university study plans in a way that contributes to enhancing employment opportunities and raising the competitiveness of graduates.

Dr. Alaa Nsheiwat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital Skills Association, also spoke about the importance of bridging the gap between education outputs and labor market needs, explaining that integrating micro-credentials into university programs will give students internationally recognized practical experience and enhance their ability to compete in local, regional, and global labor markets.

The workshop included discussion sessions to review the draft general framework for the adoption of global micro-credentials, in addition to an open workshop to discuss mechanisms for integrating them into the most in-demand academic programs, and ways to drop accredited certificates on study plans in line with national standards.
