Languages in the Digital World
Representing the President of Al al-Bayt University, Dr. Osama Nuseir, the Vice President of the University for Academic and Engineering Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Alaweena, opened the activities of the Second International Conference of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, which was entitled: "Languages in the Digital World," and was organized by the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the university, in the presence of a number of participants from inside and outside Jordan, from Arab countries, Italy, and France, in the Prince Hassan bin Talal Amphitheater at the university.
During his patronage of the opening ceremony, Al-Alaweena affirmed that this conference is based on the insightful vision of His Majesty the King and the diligent follow-up of His Highness the Crown Prince, in order to consolidate Jordan's position as a regional center for technological innovation and the digital economy, which constitutes a pivotal step to enhance partnership between the private sector and academic institutions, with the aim of accelerating digital transformation and directing the compass of education towards future specializations, foremost of which is artificial intelligence.
Al-Alaweena added that the university contributes to building a generation that possesses future competencies, and believes that artificial intelligence is an essential element in developing language education and bringing about a qualitative shift in expanding students' perceptions, noting that academic dialogue during conferences provides opportunities to exchange experiences and anticipate the future of education in light of the digital revolution.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Khatib, stressed in his speech the importance of the optimal use of artificial intelligence in improving and developing educational content, learning methodologies, and methods of teaching foreign languages, stressing that the conference highlights the role of the digital world in language education, and the use of modern methods in research, analysis, and evaluation.
At the conclusion of the opening activities of the conference, which lasts for two days and aims to exchange knowledge and experiences, and discuss the latest developments in the digital world related to foreign languages, and in the presence of the Vice Presidents of the University, a number of deans of faculties, faculty members, and students of the college, Al-Alaweena presented certificates of appreciation to the participants.
