Lecture on the Employment of Applied and Chemical Sciences in Industry at Al al-Bayt University
The College of Science at Al al-Bayt University hosted Mr. Ahmad Al-Bas, a member of the board of directors of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, to deliver a lecture on the employment of applied and chemical sciences in industry, in the presence of the college dean, Professor Dr. Raed Benat, the vice deans and their assistants, department heads, and faculty members at the College of Science, held in the Hassan Bin Talal Auditorium at the university.
Mr. Ahmad Al-Bas discussed the importance of the applied chemistry specialization as a scientific field that focuses on understanding the basic chemical properties of materials, as well as on producing new materials with well-controlled functions. This specialization also involves studying the fundamentals, techniques, and chemical applications, while positively impacting living organisms through the development and innovation of chemical and pharmaceutical materials. The specialization emphasizes the use of analytical and chemical synthesis skills in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.
He spoke about the significance of localizing applied and chemical sciences in the industry in Jordan and the reality of these applications and skills. He also discussed how to open employment opportunities in Jordan and the vision for modernization in the industrial and agricultural sector.
Mr. Ahmad Al-Bas highlighted the importance of chemistry as a foundation in industries, noting that Jordan excels in employing chemistry in industry due to quality standards, discipline, and metrics of the Food and Drug Administration at both Arab and global levels, as is the case with Jordanian products and their value in the agricultural sector, on par with the importance and quality of industrial products.
He emphasized that chemistry and applied sciences are among the greatest professions, with broad prospects in the labor market and employment. He encouraged students to acquire knowledge, understanding, and culture and to apply them in chemistry, utilizing modern scientific and technical techniques, tools necessary for professional practice, and to gain business acuity and entrepreneurial skills. He urged them to research the labor market for its needs to develop and market products and encouraged them to strive and research for successful industry outcomes.
At the end of the lecture, which was moderated by the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Raed Benat, the speaker answered students' questions and inquiries.
