A career day at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Al-Bayt University
The Faculty of Foreign Languages at the university organized a career day for its students aimed at raising awareness about the importance of learning foreign languages. This day is part of the university's efforts and commitment to fulfilling its mission and future vision, in response to students' needs and to prepare them, refine their personalities, develop their skills, and optimally equip them to enter the job market in a way that meets aspirations and responsibilities, held in the Bakhit auditorium at the university.
The Dean of the faculty, Professor Mohammed Al-Khatib, stated that these activities are held out of the university's commitment and social responsibility to introduce the available job opportunities for the students and to increase students' awareness of communicating with others and being open to the job market. He highlighted the importance of familiarizing them with many different opportunities and jobs, representing a model of true partnership between the university and industry experts, emphasizing our role in preparing them for the job market. He pointed out the necessity for job seekers to possess a proactive spirit and to gain the necessary experiences, skills, and knowledge.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Hujaila, Head of the Tourism Department at Yarmouk University, presented the practical and academic experiences he gained from studying foreign languages, which opened great horizons for him as language serves as a gateway to culture and a language of thought. He explained the necessity of learning languages and their importance as communication skills, as well as the relationship between languages and the tourism sector, emphasizing that various fields and sectors need individuals who master languages and possess different skills as a turning point for those seeking real opportunities.
Mohammad Abu Akl, a tour guide and owner of a cultural center for language education, shared his personal and professional experience as an expert in the field after acquiring several languages. He stated that outstanding students have real opportunities in the job market if they take advantage of these opportunities after learning the languages required for this market, stressing that it opens many avenues for aspirants and passionate individuals.
Hamza Salama, a tour guide and language graduate, presented his experience and personal skills in learning the French language, noting that the language opened a significant door of opportunities for him both inside and outside Jordan. He discussed his direct interaction with professionals during his work, which provided him with experiences as a tour guide, enriching his knowledge and mastering the language.
Dr. Majed Al-Harhashah, Director of the Development Center at the university, pointed out that quality in skills is required for language graduates and is one of the labor market requirements to obtain suitable employment. He indicated that learning outcomes and how to develop university students' skills through refinement, training, courses, and workshops contribute to building their personalities and equip them with learning, education, and decision-making skills for job readiness.
The career day, attended by the faculty family and students, also included discussions and an open dialogue with speakers who answered questions and inquiries from the attending students.
