The Risk Analysis Modeling and Simulation Center at Al al-Bayt University organized a joint hands-on workshop titled "Climate Change and Its Effects on Jordan" in collaboration with the Royal Geographical Centre, the Arab Center for Climate, and the Ministry of Environment, attended by the center's director, Professor Muayad Shawakeh.
Engineer Ahmad Al-Arbaid, an Arab and international expert and the director of the Arab Center for Climate, spoke about climate fluctuations and how these fluctuations impact Jordan, discussing the scientific reasons behind these changes and how weather and climate data is collected.
Presenting as well, Engineer Abdullah Al-Gharair, director of the Modern Applications Department at the Royal Geographical Centre, talked about the uses and applications of drones.
Engineer Omar Al-Rababah from the Climate Change Directorate at the Ministry of Environment discussed the phenomenon of climate change: its causes and consequences, how the world has begun to respond to this issue, and the key policies that have been issued to mitigate climate change.
Dr. Saleh Al-Qaraan, a researcher at the Risk Analysis Modeling and Simulation Center, concluded the workshop by discussing the early warning system for floods in the Walah basin and Al-Ghdeir valley in Mafraq.
The workshop was attended by several members of the teaching and administrative staff, along with representatives from governmental agencies, and a broad discussion was held on the topic, with responses provided to participants' inquiries.
